Fundamental Principles of the Anglican Church in Japan
The Anglican Church in Japan (Nihon Seikokai), in common with other members of the Anglican Communion, adheres to the following fundamental principles:
- We accept the Old and New Testaments as the revealed Word of God, sufficient for our salvation.
- We follow and proclaim the faith as set out in the Nicene Creed and the Apostles' Creed.
- In accordance with the doctrine and command of our Lord, Jesus Christ, we recognise and administer two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord's Supper (Holy Communion).
- In accordance with the practice established in apostolic times, we maintain three distinct roles for our clergy: bishops, 'priests' and deacons.
